GREAT TIP TUESDAY: DIY Wasp Traps

Hello all!

It has finally warmed up in the Pacific Northwest and the bees and wasps have made an appearance! Our neighborhood is like many others, people out working in the yard after the winter, planting flowers, raking up derbies, mowing lawns again, and that all important task of bringing out the BBQ from the long winters rest.  I tried to go outside to enjoy the sun, (living in NC for almost four years made me a sun baby) but the wasps have taken over the yard and the deck.

I am allergic to bees and wasps, I have to carry an epi-pen with me and go directly to the hospital kind of allergic!  When I was a kid, nothing happened, turn 30 and I get allergies up the wazoo and wasps are the worst!!  I blow up like a puffer fish, not good! So I wanted to make some traps, but didn't want to spend $10 each to keep the wasps at bay.  I looked for some DIY wasp traps and found one that looked quite simple to make.

We have 2 kids, 3 dogs, and 2 outside cats as well and don't want to take any chances on any of them being stung.  I know there are those of you who think this is cruel, I am sorry if you are offended in any way, but the safety of myself and my family come first.  If you have any other ideas that will work, please comment!

XOXO Jeanne
